Pio’s $1,000 Golden Opulent Ice Cream Sundae from Serendipity NYC | Excess w/ Pio

Hi, it’s Pio
with Excess and BET. Today we’re in Serendipity 3 to try the world’s
most expensive sundae. Hi, I’m Joe Calderone, creative chef here
at Serendipity. I’ve been here for 31 years, and today we’re making
the golden opulence sundae. It’s just the ultimate treat. First we take our Baccarat
crystal goblet from France, the same goblet used
in the Vatican. And then we’re going to line
our glass, 23 karat edible gold. And then we take our ice cream- That’s vanilla? That’s vanilla,
Tahitian vanilla. It’s infused
with Madagascar vanilla. Is it going to be good? It’s going to be really good. People pay a lot of money
for this. And now we’re going to take
our chocolate sauce. This is made from the rarest and the most expensive
chocolate in the world, which is Amadei Porcelana
and Amadei Ciao. Oh, look at this. You want
to get that piece of gold? Gold doesn’t really have
any taste, but it does have
a really cool texture. And then we put another
scoop of ice cream, more 23 karat edible gold,
more gold, and these are almonds
that are coated in candy that are dipped in gold. Nice.
Nice, right? It’s looking good. Yes. Now we can take our last scoop
of ice cream, more gold, more gold,
more 23 karat edible gold. We’re going to take our candied
fruit from Fauchon in Paris, and this fruit takes
a month to make. It’s soaked in a sugar solution. This is expensive ice cream. Very expensive ice cream.
You know how much? No, I don’t know. You want to know? Mm-hmm
(affirmative). $1,000. That’s the golden
opulence sundae. Looks good, huh? Yes, it’s nice. Where you get the idea
for the sundae? Well Serendipity was celebrating 50th anniversary,
golden anniversary. So I wanted to make something
with gold to celebrate. Can I get this ice cream
for take out? No, you can’t get it take out.
What do you want to put this in? I want to pay and take out. It doesn’t look good in a tin. What if somebody else
tried to sell the ice cream? No, nobody else can make it. I would sue them
for copyright infringement. Oh, you got a copyright
for this ice cream? Oh, yes. Copyright. Yes. Who celebrity come and eating
this ice cream? We have celebrities come,
but I can’t tell you. Why? It’s a secret. But I can tell you
that we’ve had- I’m a celebrity too. I know you are. Like me come to eating
this ice cream. Yeah, so now I can tell people
Pio came to eat this, right? Can I eat the flower too? Yeah, the flower is made
of sugar so you can eat it. It’s sugar dipped in gold. This is the world’s
only dessert caviar. Caviar? Caviar. With the ice cream? With the ice cream,
but it’s low in salt, it’s infused with Grand Marnier
and passion fruit. So it’s a sweet caviar. Can I try it now? Sure. I made it for you. It’s the best ice cream I see in my life. I like it because the price
is $1,000, but for me it’s free. That’s why I like it. If you like what you saw,
